About me

Advertising photographer in Platja d’Aro, Girona and Barcelona

About Muriel C. Photography

Dutch by origin, inveterate traveler, marquetinian by mind and photographer at heart, I have lived in the province of Girona most of my life.

I currently operate from Platja d’Aro (Costa Brava) for clients in Girona and Barcelona, although I occasionally report in remote places.

A lover of photography since my teens, in 2010 I decided to take this passion “seriously” and began to formally educate myself in photography. Since then I have done multiple workshops and courses, from generic to more specialized, while continuing my journey in marketing and communication. Since 2015 I am professionally working as a photographer – though still combine photography projects with some marketing projects.

My photographic education includes among others:

  • New York Institute of Photography – “Complete Professional Photography Course”
  • ERAM (University of Girona) – modules “Advertising Photography” and “Advanced Lighting Techniques” of the Master in Photography program
  • IEFC (Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya) – professional course in Architecture and Interior Design Photography
  • Seminars, courses and workshops of renowned photographers such as Frank Doorhof (fashion and glamour), Diego Espada (creativity, lighting, visual storytelling), Nacho Gutiérrez (wedding photography), Mike Kelly (architectural photography) or Gabriel Brau (B & N)

I am co-founder of the “Associació Fotogràfica Educant la Mirada” (promotion of visual culture through events, workshops and photography courses) since 2014. Likewise, I am co-organizer of the Photographic Days of Castell-Platja d’Aro, an international photography contest and other photographic activities under the name of “Fotoplatjadaro”.

How do I work?

With direction and transparency

With my background in marketing, I like to understand the needs of my client, beyond the “simple” photography. What audience you are targeting, how you want to position yourself, what is the desired identity, what are your style preferences …

After an initial exchange of information I prepare the budget in as much detail as possible, so that there is maximum transparency about what the client can expect from the contracted service. I understand that only in this way can I help achieve the objectives, in addition to forging a relationship of trust.

With professionalism

I dedicate the time and materials that are necessary to successfully conclude a project. I work with “full frame” reflex camera and high-end lighting equipment, to ensure that the technical part is not a hurdle when challenges come across.

The delivery of the edited photographs is usually between 3 and 7 days, depending on the complexity of the project or volume of work.

I want my clients to be happy with the work done and to help them achieve their goals – I perceive this as a responsibility that I take very seriously. I am always open to dialogue if there is any factor that has not given total satisfaction.

Naturally

While it is my responsibility to make people, products or spaces shine through my camera, I like to work with a fairly natural style.

I think it is important to show a good image – whether personal, of a company, product or place – but at the same time be as realistic and true as possible. In this way, we show the qualities that you want to transmit, while avoiding creating false expectations among the target audience.

If the client does not express his/her wish otherwise, the post-production (editing) that I apply is therefore consistent with this philosophy: I will remove a small stain on a wall, I will improve the light or colors, or I will remove a cable or a pimple that has come out just on the day of the shooting – but as a general rule, I will not change a person, object or space into something or somebody else.
